But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel
Paul is writing from prison and says that the things that are happening to him are doing so for the furtherance of the goepsl. That wird furtherance in the Greek comes from the idea of cutting wood. When a Roman army wanted to advance a crew of woodcutters would go ahead and cut down trees and clear the path. Question: what are you doing today to clear a path for the gospel?
