The true nature of Christ's Kingdom

Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain

Jesus, in saying this, is primarily teaching the visiting questioning Greeks the true nature of His kingdom. Perhaps they thought they would see a King like the kings of this world .. if they did they were very much misguided. Jesus would have them know that He came to bear a cross, and not to wear a crown. He came not to live a life of nobility with its lifestyle of ease and splendour but to die a dishonourable death at the hands of brutal men. His kingdom would not begin with a coronation in a isolation of a throne room but with a public crucifixion atop a refuse tip. He was teaching them that the riches of His kingdom would not come from victories won by the sword, and from accumulated treasures of gold and silver, but from the death of its king in which the accumulated treasures were souls of all who would follow him.
